Essential Duties

Include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.


Ready Mix Driver


  • Report to work and be prepared to begin day at scheduled punch in time. Pre-trip inspection of ready mix truck pursuant to D.O.T. regulations.  Pre-trip inspection includes checking fluid levels of engine oil, antifreeze, tire pressure, brakes and other driver operated controls for loading and unloading ready-mix.
  • Driver must check with dispatch department upon receipt of first ticket that GPS unit is responsive.
  • Upon receipt of delivery ticket, driver pulls truck under or backs truck under plant (depending on plant configuration) and charges mixer to receive concrete, making sure to take any admixtures or other ancillary products that are on ticket.
  • Fill water tank before each delivery by placing rubber hose into water tank and filling after checking that all valves are shut.
  • UPON BATCH COMPLETION AND PRIOR TO PLANT DEPARTURE, DRIVER IS RESPONSIBLE TO INSURE THAT REAR AREA OF MIXER IS CLEAN AND FREE FROM DEBRIS THAT MAY HAVE ACCUMULATED DURING BATCH PROCESS.
  • DRIVER IS RESPONSIBLE TO INSURE THAT PRIOR TO PLANT DEPARTURE, SLUMP MEASUREMENT OF BATCHED CONCRETE IS WITHIN TOLERANCE AND WILL REACH JOBSITE AT INDICATED SLUMP ON TICKET.
  • DRIVER IS RESPONSIBLE THAT ALL ADDED CONSTITUENTS AS INDICATED BY TICKET, I.E. – COLOR, FIBER, ADMIXTURE HAS BEEN ADDED TO THE BATCH.
  • DRIVER MUST UTLIZE EXPERIENCE AND BEST JUDGEMENT PRIOR TO PLANT DEPARTURE THAT CONCRETE HAS BEEN BATCHED CORRECTLY ACCORDING TO TICKET SPECIFICATIONS.  (TOO SANDY, DRY, ROCKY, CEMENT RICH, ETC.)
  • Uses map book and experience to travel in most direct route to job site to ensure on time delivery.
  • Safely drive truck to jobsite and arrive with the desired slump within customer or job specifications.
  • Upon arriving to jobsite, driver must get out of their truck and review their surroundings for potential obstacles (sand, nails, rebar, etc.)  Once sight is secure, safely maneuver truck to designated unloading area.
  • Pursuant to customer needs, driver will place chutes from fender or hanging rack onto the main chute at the rear of truck for discharge.  Upon completion of discharge, driver will wash the chutes and put back on truck.
  • Prior to leaving jobsite, driver is responsible for completing all paperwork and collection of payment if necessary.
  • Upon completion of deliveries for the day, driver will wash truck with hose and brush, including the use of soap solution when necessary.
  • Communicate with dispatch through two-way radio and GPS text unit.
  • At the end of shift, all paperwork must be completed and turned in.
  • Ready mix driver is responsible to call automated driver schedule each day for start time.
  • Each driver will perform a post-trip inspection of truck pursuant to DOT regulations.  Driver is responsible for maintaining all logs for assigned truck.
  • Other duties or special projects as assigned by management.

Dump Truck Driver


  • Responsible for HQI and Sandpit material movement to MTI concrete plants in order to ensure production requirements are met.
  • Pre-trip inspection of dump truck pursuant to D.O.T. regulations.  Pre-trip inspection includes checking fluid levels of engine oil, antifreeze, tire pressure, brakes and other driver operated controls for loading and unloading aggregate material.
  • Driver must check with dispatch department upon receipt of first ticket that GPS unit is responsive.
  • Upon receiving delivery ticket, driver loads truck on scale (depending on plant configuration) and weighs dump truck to measure aggregate material.
  • Uses map book and experience and takes most direct route to job site to ensure on time delivery.
  • Safely drives truck to jobsite and arrives with the desired aggregate material within customer or job specifications.
  • Upon arriving to jobsite, driver must get out of their truck and review their surroundings for potential obstacles (sand, nails, rebar, etc.)  Once sight is secure, safely maneuver truck to designated unloading area.
  • Prior to leaving jobsite, driver is responsible for completing all paperwork and collection of payment if necessary.
  • Weekly, driver will wash truck with hose and brush, including the use of soap solution when necessary.
  • Communicate with dispatch through two-way radio and GPS text unit.
  • At the end of the shift, all paperwork must be completed and turned in.
  • Dump truck driver is responsible to call automated driver schedule each day for start time.
  • Each driver is expected to perform a post-trip inspection of truck pursuant to DOT regulations. Driver is responsible for maintaining and recording fuel level in assigned truck.
  • Other duties or special projects as assigned by management.

Bulker Driver


  • Responsible for movement of cement and fly ash to MTI concrete plants in order to ensure production requirements are met.  
  • Pre-trip inspection of dump truck pursuant to D.O.T. regulations.  Pre-trip inspection includes checking fluid levels of engine oil, antifreeze, tire pressure, brakes and other driver operated controls for loading and unloading cement and fly ash material.
  • Driver loads truck on scale (depending on plant configuration) and weighs truck and bulker trailer to measure cement and fly ash material.
  • Safely drives truck to pickup site and arrives with the desired cement and fly ash material within MTI job specifications.
  • Upon arriving at MTI plant, the driver must be able to safely maneuver truck.
  • Responsible for safe and correct offloading of materials into batch plants.
  • Bi-weekly, driver will wash truck with hose and brush, including the use of soap solution when necessary.
  • Communicate with dispatch through two-way radio and GPS text unit.
  • At the end of the shift, all paperwork must be completed and turned in.
  • Bulker truck driver is responsible to call automated driver schedule each day for start time.
  • Each driver is expected to perform a post-trip inspection of truck pursuant to DOT regulations. Driver is responsible for maintaining and recording fuel level in assigned truck.
  • Other duties or special projects as assigned by management.

Driver

Summary

The essential functions and objectives of the job: driving to and from job sites delivering and unloading concrete/aggregate/cement for customers.  Extensive contact with the customer requires honesty, a high level of integrity, reliability, good work ethic and a positive attitude.  This position requires the ability to work well with others and with co-workers.  Some documentation verifying delivery of the product requires good aptitude and decision making skills. The daily work schedule may consist of 10+ hours per day, with overtime required when necessary on a mandatory basis.  The start of each day may vary depending on scheduled work.  The Driver’s work week begins on Monday and concludes Saturday.

  1.  Ability to pass Federal Department of Transportation drug screen and physical.
  2. Maintain driving record in accordance with Federal and State Motor Carrier regulations, and meet company policy requirements.

  5. Ability to deal with customers and other employees in a diplomatic manner, in a variety of stressful situations.
  6. Must safely operate truck and perform tasks that are congruent with company policy, and within state and federal laws.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE


High school diploma or GED required. 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.



MATHEMATICAL SKILLS


Ability to perform simple math equations.



LANGUAGE SKILLS


Must be able to read, write and speak English and Spanish.



REASONING ABILITY


Ability to apply common sense under standing to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.  



CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS


Valid Department of Transportation Certified Commercial Drivers License / Class C minimum.
